Miami Mini Neck Lift Near Me
The annual trend report published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that in 2020 approximately 160,000 people in the United States were able to have neck lifts performed. Even though it was the height of the pandemic, many people still managed to have this procedure performed. Its increasing popularity is said to come from the pandemic, as many people had to use Zoom calls to communicate with their coworkers or clients. Having to stare at yourself during a Zoom call for hours every day will make you notice things about your facial features that you haven’t before. Therefore many are seeking mini neck lifts to subtly improve their appearance and look more youthful.
What is a Mini Neck Lift?
A mini neck lift is a surgical procedure that is designed to tighten and remove excess skin in the neck and chin areas. Soft tissues in the neck are repositioned and the jawline is redefined to create a smoother facial contour, thus creating a more youthful appearance. The surgery is minimally invasive, and recovery times are quicker than most other plastic surgery procedures.
Why Should I Get A Mini Necklift?

There are a myriad of reasons why an individual would want to get a mini neck lift, but they all usually have something to do with the client not feeling comfortable in their own skin. When skin is still moderately elastic and is only slightly saggy and hanging, a mini neck lift may be a good option for younger individuals. We understand how important it is to feel comfortable in your own skin, and that having negative connotations about your own appearance can affect many other things in your life. Many people choose to get a mini neck lift because the procedure will:
- Tighten neck muscles
- Reduce fat under the chin
- Remove jowls and excess fat in the lower half of the face
- Improve contours in the face by treating the muscle banding in the neck
- Have a shorter treatment and recovery time
- Remove double chins or turkey wattles
What Are the Risks Associated With Mini Neck Lifts?
While the risks associated with a mini neck lift are fewer than a full neck lift, there are still risks. A mini neck lift is considered a safe procedure, but patients should be prepared and aware of complications that can occur. Some complications that can be experienced after a mini neck lift can include, but are not limited to:
- Bruising
- Bleeding
- Blood clots
- Hematomas
- Post-operative infections
- Swelling
- Potential scarring
If a patient experiences any of these they should consult their doctor. Bleeding, blood clots and infections can be life threatening if left untreated. While the chances of these happening are relatively low compared to other plastic surgery procedures
What To Expect After A Mini Neck Lift

After a mini neck lift is performed, there will be a recovery period, but it won’t be as long as a full neck lift. Patients should expect to rest for at least 7-10 days after their mini neck lift procedure. This will allow swelling and bruising to resolve as quickly as possible. Some patients may be required to wear a neck or chin “bra” which is designed to support the surgical efforts and apply mild pressure to the area that was operated on. This will need to be worn for the first 7-10 days as well if recommended by the doctor.
We recommend planning in advance to prepare for a mini neck lift. It is recommended to have some sort of support system to help with daily living activities for the first week after the surgery. Anesthesia does not fully leave the body until 24 hours after surgery, therefore the patient may feel drowsy or loopy, which means they will be unable to drive. There will also be prescribed pain medication for the patient to take, which will also alter their state of mind enough to prohibit them from operating a vehicle or doing other things they may normally do. Having someone there to support and help out will ensure the patient does not over-exert themselves or possibly cause damage to the surgical areas. Many of our patients choose to seek help for their children as well during their recovery period.
Prepping soft foods like pasta, baked potatoes, soups, etc before the procedure will also help with the first few days of recovery as it may be difficult to chew or swallow while healing. During the first week, there will be some swelling and bruising, and after the first week, any sutures will be removed. This is when the patient will be able to start wearing makeup again. After two weeks, the incisions will still be a little red but fading. 10-14 days after surgery the patient will be able to go back to work or school, and most of the bruising and swelling should be gone as well.
What Is The Difference Between A Neck Lift And A Mini Neck Lift
Both of these procedures are fantastic ways to deal with unwanted skin and sagging in the neck area. A mini neck lift as the name suggests is a less invasive simpler version of a neck lift. The main difference between them is that with a mini neck lift procedure only a small well-hidden incision is made in the crux of the neck behind the chin. The surgeon then uses that incision to perform liposuction removing excess fat from the neck and tightening up the neck muscles. No skin is removed during a mini neck lift, rather the skin is smoothed out over the area to give the neck a more youthful appearance. If you have an excess of skin once the fat is removed it is necessary to have a full neck lift procedure where the surgeon removes that skin by creating incisions behind the ears as well as the crux of the neck. The recovery time for a mini neck lift is shorter than traditional neck lift surgery and the patient should feel better in a matter of weeks. If you aren’t sure if a mini neck lift or full neck lift is the right choice for your feel free to set up a consultation with Dr. Galitz. Be sure to check out our before and after neck lift photos.
