Just like Botox, Juvederm is fast becoming a popular cosmetic choice amongst individuals that wish to either change their appearance or achieve a more natural-looking appearance. However, unlike Botox, not many people know what exactly Juvederm is or what it is typically used to treat. There are many rumors surrounding Juvederm, stating that it is toxic to the body, or has serious side effects. In reality, Juvederm’s main ingredient is commonly found within the human body, making it much safer than the toxin-based Botox.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is produced by the same manufacturer as Botox but doesn’t necessarily work the same as Botox. Juvederm can be used to treat wrinkle lines, but it’s mainly used as a dermal filler to treat sagging skin or add volume to facial features. Throughout the years, this injectable cosmetic treatment has become increasingly popular, especially for individuals who do not want to use a product containing a toxin, like Botox.

Juvederm was originally approved by the FDA in 2006, and the main ingredient is hyaluronic acid. Research conducted throughout the 90s determined that hyaluronic acid is one of the most ideal substances to repair soft tissue and conceal wrinkles and scars through minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Hyaluronic acid is widely known as the best and most used compound for a majority of Botox-free and minimally invasive fillers. This is mainly due to the fact that hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring and acts as a moisture-binding product that is used to help add volume and hydrate skin.

The Juvederm treatment line has produced a number of products since it was originally approved in 2006. Some of the products that Juvederm produces are:

  • Juvederm Voluma XC
  • Juvederm XC
  • Juvederm Vollure XC
  • Juvederm Ultra XC
  • Juvederm Volbella XC
  • Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

What Is Juvederm Used For?

Juvederm is most commonly known for its use in lip injections and to relieve wrinkle lines. However, it has many different cosmetic and medical benefits. Juvederm is slowly becoming more sought after than Botox due to the fact that hyaluronic acid already naturally occurs within the body. Additionally, it does work for other aspects that Botox cannot.

Juvederm is quickly becoming a highly sought-after minimally invasive procedure for rhinoplasties. Many who want to change the appearance of their nose or even lines do not want an invasive procedure that requires a lengthy recovery process. Therefore, Juvederm injections have been shown to successfully provide the effects that a surgical rhinoplasty would.

This process is typically performed in an office rather than in an operating room and takes less than an hour. Safety is a huge aspect of using Juvederm fillers in place of surgical rhinoplasty. A major component of Juvederm’s facial filler gel is hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring throughout the body. Therefore, this product is not likely to cause allergic reactions. Juvederm is manufactured as a super smooth gel, compared to its competitor’s gels which tend to be more granular in nature. Therefore, Juvederm provides smooth, natural, and youthful-looking results. Several Juvederm injections are made on and around the nose to create the new desired shape. Many individuals with crooked or abnormal noses opt for Juvederm treatment to achieve their desired look

Cheek Definition

The cheeks and cheekbones greatly influence face appearance. Before Juvederm was approved, many were seeking surgical procedures to achieve a more youthful or smooth appearance.  It is believed that well-defined cheekbones and naturally softer cheeks create a youthful aesthetic. Juvederm is used as a cheek filler to restore the appearance of the cheeks when aging takes its toll. The cheekbones can be defined and cheek hollows can be filled out with Juvederm to enhance a smooth and youthful appearance. Juvederm is more affordable and less painful than cheek implants.

Dark Under Eye Circles

Many patients choose to use Juvederm treatments to correct dark circles or bags under their eyes. Many times dark circles and bags under the eyes are caused by loss of volume in those areas. Typically, this loss of volume is due to the natural aging process. There are a myriad of eye creams and topical treatments on the market, but none of them are a substitute for the amazing transformation that Juvederm fillers can create. Our trained team of Juvederm experts can fill the areas underneath the eyes to restore lost volume, which will efficiently create a more youthful and alert look with just one appointment.

Lip Filler

As an individual ages, their lips may lose volume and begin to appear thinner and less defined. Additionally, smoker lines may begin to appear. Juvederm is an efficient way to help fill lines around the lips, plump the lips, and redefine the borders of the lips. All of these are meant to accentuate the shape of the individual’s lips. Many individuals believe that using Juvederm as a lip filler will cause the lips to become bumpy and uneven. In reality, once Juvederm is injected into the lips it is almost impossible to distinguish the Juvederm filler from the natural texture of the lips. In the end, using Juvederm as a lip filler will leave any individual feeling confident.

Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial Folds are considered one of the hardest signs of aging to correct due to the location. Nasolabial folds typically form between the nose and the mouth in the areas where the skin is much thicker than the rest of the face. The folds that develop in this area tend to be more difficult to treat due to the skin being so thick. Additionally, it is extremely difficult to conceal nasolabial folds once they have started to develop. Juvederm is used to treat nasolabial folds by filling in the surrounding skin. Instantly, the area that is injected looks plump and more youthful.

Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are typically described as vertical lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down to the chin. Usually, these lines tend to start presenting themselves after the age of 30. However, they are easily corrected with Juvederm injections. Juvederm helps erase fine lines, including marionette lines, and helps enhance the natural shape of the chin. Once the Juvederm injections are complete, they will give any individual a younger more attractive profile.

Do Different Types Of Juvederm Have Different Uses?

In lamens terms, yes. Each type of Juvederm product has a specific use, and is not a one size fits all solution to every aspect of facial fillers. Over time, the creators of Juvederm have created different types of Juvederm injections that target and treat different aspects of the face. We know how confusing it can be to understand which type of Juvederm works best for different areas of the face, so we have broken them down to be clear and concise.

Juvederm Voluma

Juvederm Voluma is a type of Juvederm injection that is perfect for adding volume to the mid-face region. Volume loss in the cheeks and face are typically what Juvederm Voluma is used to treat. Cheeks naturally lose their plumpness over time, and the skin will begin to sag. Juvederm Voluma is an excellent choice to contour the face and regain the lost volume in the cheeks and face.

Juvederm Volbella

Juvederm Volbella is typically used as a lip filler. It is a great option to make the lips appear naturally fuller. Juvederm Volbella is created from hyaluronic acid, which is a common component of the human body. Therefore there is little chance that there will be a reaction to using Juvederm Volbella. This light and subtle formula is the best way to obtain a more natural-looking plumper pout in just a few minutes.

Juvederm Vollure

Juvederm Vollure is a softer version of Juvederm Voluma, but also more robust than Juvederm Volbella. Typically, Juvederm Vollure is used to treat and smooth fine lines, folds, and wrinkles. This type of Juvederm injection is more versatile, meaning it can be used to treat several different aspects of the face. It also lasts significantly longer than other dermal fillers, as it can last up to 18 months.

How Much Does Juvederm Cost?

Juvederm injections are considered to be noninvasive procedures. Therefore they are much more affordable than other various forms of cosmetic surgery such as facelifts, neck lifts, and rhinoplasties. The risk of complications is also significantly lower.

When it comes to insurance, most medical insurance providers consider Juvederm injections to be elective procedures. This means that they are not medically necessary, and they won’t cover the cost. On average, Juvederm costs between $500 to $600 a syringe or more. Depending upon what the client wants to achieve, they may need multiple syringes or multiple sessions. In some cases, providers will suggest doing two syringes in one treatment to help mitigate the cost.

It is important to know that the cost of Juvederm injections can vary widely. Due to Juvederm coming in different formulas based on the desired treatment area, the cost can fluctuate. Each type of Juvederm has varying levels of hyaluronic acid, and the syringe sizes may differ.
