Upper Eyelid Surgery Near You in Miami, FL
Blepharoplasty, also known as upper eyelid surgery or eye lift surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure that involves the removal of excess skin and/or fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. This quick and simple plastic surgery can provide a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the eye area by improving drooping or sagging of the upper eyelids and puffiness and bags beneath the lower eyelids. Upper blepharoplasty involves the upper eyelid, lower blepharoplasty can remove sagging skin from below the eye. Both procedures can be performed through either an external or transconjunctival approach. How Is It Performed?
Eyelid surgery can be performed through either an external or transconjunctival approach. The procedure begins with anesthesia. Medicine is given to the patient for comfort during the procedure. Next, the incision lines are strategically designed, so scars are hidden within the natural indentations of the eyelid area. An incision within the natural crease of the eye allows the upper eyelid to be corrected. With the external approach, the incisions are located in the upper eyelid crease for upper blepharoplasty and below the lower lashes for lower blepharoplasty. Through these incisions, respected Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Galitz, will precisely remove excess skin of the upper and lower eyelids, as well as the fat pads if necessary. For the transconjunctival approach, the incisions are made inside the lower eyelid, and the fat pad is only addressed. The last step in the surgery is closing the incision with sutures or glue. Sutures are typically removed within one week. Obviously, the best part of the procedure is finally seeing some results. After swelling and bruising subside, rejuvenated eyelids will gradually appear. Many of our clients love to see their eyelid surgery before and after photos, once they have healed to show how a few subtle changes can create an overall positive look.
Blepharoplasty For Men
This surgical procedure has become very popular among men and its popularity continues to grow every year. The eye area is one of the first places that men begin to show signs of aging. Drooping occurs, and wrinkles begin to develop, which can make men look exhausted and older than they are. It is apparently seen in our eyelid surgery before and after photos, that the change in features is subtle, yet positive. Therefore, so many men turn to this procedure, so they can maintain a fresh and youthful look. Another reason this cosmetic surgery has become so popular for men is because scarring is usually minimal. Since men are less likely to discuss having plastic surgery, little to no evidence of a procedure is a plus.

How Long Is Recovery
Eyelid surgery recovery typically lasts seven to ten days. During this time, the eyelids may feel tight or sore and medication can help to alleviate any discomfort. Swelling and bruising are common. Other temporary side effects may include dryness, itching, burning or tearing of the eyes, light sensitivity, and blurred or double vision. The stitches are removed after one week, at which time most patients are able to return to work. More strenuous activities and exercise can be resumed after approximately two weeks. As with any surgery, there are potential risks and complications and these may include eye injury, ectropion, and poor eyelid closure. To minimize the potential for complications with your eyelid surgery and to optimize your results, you should seek a board-certified plastic surgeon near you who has extensive experience in blepharoplasty surgery procedures and their variations.

Eyelid Surgery Cost Near You In Miami, FL
There are a number of factors to consider when determining eyelid surgery costs. These include:
- Surgeon’s fee
- Anesthesia fees
- Surgical facility costs
- Medication costs
- Complexity of Issue
- Any Necessary Medical tests
The typical cost of eyelid surgery will range from $3000-$5000. This amount can vary depending on how severe the condition is and the type of anesthesia used for the eyelid surgery procedure. Here at Aventura Plastic Surgery, the top choice for blepharoplasty near you in Miami, we are pleased to offer local anesthesia with oral sedation options as a way to not only reduce costs of your eyelid surgery but also reduce risk. Local anesthesia with oral sedation has become a popular method of sedation during minor surgeries such as eyelid lift surgery. A numbing agent is applied to the area being worked on, in this case the eyelids and area surrounding the eyes, using either a topical cream or gel or in some cases through an injection, and then the patient is given a correctly dosed combination of pills to induce a calming ‘twilight’ sensation that reduces stress but avoids the need for general anesthesia (being put completely out). For more information about our anesthesia options as well as our cost and payment options contact our office to set up your initial consultation.
